An astonishing fact: 99% of the stuff we produce, whether mined, harvested, manufactured, or transported is trashed within 6 months. In fact, there are products specifically designed to be discarded after a period of time, they are called "planned obsolescence" or "throw-away" products. Fact is, we love stuff. But stuff is problematic because making it and throwing it away opens up huge cans of worms, so to speak. In truth the worms are great, the cans are an issue. Let's face it though, we need stuff and want it too. What we need is a plan for sustainability within our every day living and consumer habits. Let's get over the outdated notion of conquering nature and go back to working with it. How about this: instead of ripping the planet apart in order to make stuff with virgin raw materials, then stuffing it back up with poisonous manufactured materials, until there is no more planet left on which to live, or air to breathe, why not agree to do it differently?
